Museo de Bellas Artes de Murcia

The Museo de Bellas Artes de Murcia is one of the longest established institutions of our region. Its origin is linked to Provincial Commission of Monuments Murcia (1844), whose work of preservation and conservation of heritage for the sake of the establishment of a Provincial Museum materialize in 1864. In the same year when creating the Provincial Museum of Painting and Sculpture, which , later , add the Department of Archaeology .

The museum, opened in 1910 by architect Pedro Martinez CerdanWho embodies the premises of architectural eclecticism . It will then be renovated by architects such as Pedro San Martin Moro (1973-1975) and Manuel Cuadrado Isasa (1998-2000).

At present the MUBAM develops a program based on the history of styles and timing of the collection exposed , following a didactic exhibition and whose ultimate goal is to bring the works to visitors.

On the other hand , the other end of the museum , such as conservation , acquisition , research and dissemination have been guaranteed since ancient times. This is demonstrated by events such as the publication of Bulletin of the Provincial Museum of Murcia, the creation of the P. Commission Library Monuments, With jewels like the editions of Vitruvius S. XVIII, or Comedy Leandro Fernandez de Moratin (ed. S. XVIII ) and other volumes of the seventeenth to S. XIX.

With respect to acquisitions of the Museum 's important to mention the ability to first, Provincial Monuments Commission and then Board of Trustees, Which led to various donations , purchases and deposits in the early years.

Outstanding museum institutions give way, in turn , works of art , as in the case of the Museo Nacional del Prado significant funds deposited by painting since the mid- nineteenth century or the Museum of Fine Arts in Valencia. It also has various collections of paintings from the sixteenth to the nineteenth attached to the Autonomous Community of Murcia .

So as to enhance the dissemination , protection and promotion of our heritage .
