Archaeological Museum of Murcia



The Archaeological Museum of Murcia Real created the Ministry of Public Order on July 6, 1864 by contributions from the Provincial Commission of Monuments. For many years, collections of Archaeology lived with the Painting and Sculpture in the East room of the Teatro de los Infantes de Murcia ( 1864), in the building of Contrast ( 1866) and in the building built by Pedro Martinez in 1910 Cerdan and today is home to the Museo de Bellas Artes de Murcia . In 1953 , the Provincial Archaeological Museum collections were moved to the building constructed by José Luis León for the Casa de la Cultura, Palacio Provincial Archives, Libraries and Museums. In 1962 , the collection of Archaeology and the building was declared a Historic- Artistic Monuments . long-standing institution in the preservation and dissemination of archaeological and artistic heritage , the Archaeological Museum has notable collections of various archaeological sites in the region of Murcia. In a total of sixteen rooms , we propose a walk through prehistory from the Paleolithic period to the Bronze Age and traces the early history and history to the Christian period and the Visigoths.
